The 2016 Chevrolet Camaro’s on-sale date is right around the corner. It’s an all-new design, but it’s still heavily reminiscent of the first generation 1967 to 1969 Camaro, right down to the tri-color, three-bar grille badge that originally appeared on the fender in 1967. The first-gen car is the iconic Camaro, yet, when GM’s top design staff — Bill Mitchell and Irv Rybicki — talked about the 1967 to 1969 Camaro, they dismissed it with almost outright derision. “It’s a committee car,” said Mitchell.
